So my PSU just broke, and i have been looking at upgrading for a while now (Current specs are phenom II x4, @ 3.4ghz, 8gb RAM, and a single 6950)

So now would be the perfect time to do it? However,.. looking at my budget,. and looking at the next gen consoles,.. is there much point? The next gen consoles will probably be cheaper for me in the long run.

With my budget i am looking to buy a new power supply, mobo, CPU, and GPU. Currently looking at the Sabertooth Mobo, and Fx8350. potentially Oc to 4.5.
And for the GPu i am undecided but probably 7970.

But all that will cost me more than double that of a console, and they're the exact same specs.

Help?

On a slightly different note,. so many people bash the 8350,. but with the next gen consoles being 8core AMD,. future games will make better use of the cores no? (Most games are made for console and ported ot PC these days)

1.) Consoles use 10 year old hardware, no matter how new they may seem. So the specs you listed are NOT console specs, Consoles are no where near as powerful as a Gaming PC. Next-Gen Consoles are basically a VERY VERY low end Gaming PC. With 10 year old hardware inside, Console graphics may say 1080i/1080p but really they are upscaled 480/720p, but thats not what you asked so my rant will end lol.
2.) Anyway, I suggest you salvage the parts that you can use from your old PC, (Hard Drive, Case, Monitor etc) and build a new PC. Also, I don't recommend AMD CPU's as they have the pins on the CPU and not on the Motherboard like Intel has 'em, therefor making them less likely to break. I recommend an i5-4670(K) and a motherboard of your...
