I recently was trying to reinstall windows 8 however when the process is about 10% complete, there is an error (Windows cannot install required files). I have already scanned and checked the hdd and also wiped it clean and there are no errors or bad sectors etc. Is there anything else that could be causing this.
Thanks

if your doing a wipe and a reinstall. Use the windows installer to delete all of the partion then reboot. It could be an issue writing to the system restore partion, if it still errors out power off pull one stick of ram to rule out bad ram. Also check that mb bios has all the bug fixes.

Sorry I forgot to mention that the system is pretty new, about 1 month and the mb is a gigabyte ga z77 d3h and the ram corsair vengeance 2x4 gb 9-9-9-24 1600mhz. also disk drive is new.

Okay thanks for the help, however I've heard that updating the bios can be risky and I've never done it before if that is causing the errors. Can you give any advice for that.
Thanks again.
