I have only used a wireless adapter, but since my wireless isn't too great I wanted to use the ethernet jack in my room. I didn't know it worked until I tried it on my laptop. It is definitely connected to my modem and it works along with my ethernet cable. The problem is 100% on my computer's side. When I plug the cable in there is a yellow light and a red light but in my network connections it's as if it isn't plugged in. Under device manager>network adapters there is only my wireless adapter and a program I use for minecraft servers which is irrelevant. Under other devices my Ethernet Controller and USB controller have a yellow triangle with an exclamation point inside of that. I click on it and it says there are no drivers. It says The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)...I have no idea if this is the issue or even matters when connecting to the internet. I tried to update the drivers but it says it was no able to find the software. I have also tried SlimDriversFree, but that did not work either. I have tried to download the driver online, but in the setup it says it was unsuccessful. I've been looking around to fix this and it seems the constant is that everyone has re-installed windows at some point, which I did, but they seem to be trying to connect to using wireless which I have no problems doing.

I built the computer and this is my OS and mobo.

Windows 7 Home Premium

ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Save it where you want
Extract it to an empty folder
Run the setup.exe contained inside.
That should do it
