sorry if this appears a silly question...but i was thinking about buying a clevo laptop that offers the ability to put graphics cards in sli...but i am a little low on cash to be buying two GTX 780m's....I am not a super star wanna be gamer or benchmarked...but I like the latest and greatest..look at my receiver, look at my car...but anyhow...I cannot seem to find anywhere that say in a year I could buy another GPU...it appears that you have to get them with the barebones unit from manufacturer. This makes no sense, I read stories of people upgrading, but what am I missing that I don't see mobile GPU's for sale retail in my Google and Bing searches.

A laptop with SLI will already have the GPU's PERMANENTLY installed, for the most part. UNLESS the manufacture actually states that the video can be upgraded or added, then it is not for us mortals to do. And of course, that's why you aren''t seeing the 'M" version of GPUs for sale. Buy the best and most powerful single GPU you can afford OR save a few more dollars and get the SLI.

Edit, 1848 hrs. PDT. I just looked at the SAGER sight, and some of their laptops allow UserUpgrades to graphics, but couldn't find the same info on CLEVO.

@nostall....that is what led me to think I could do what I wanted, warranty or no....take a SLI capable 17 inch Clevo, but just go with one 780m for now....it just appears that I would be relegated to the world of ebay in hopes of finding a second. It seems to me that even the resellers are at the whims of the manufacturers, looks like most of the barebones already come like the other poster stated, GPU already in...

Woof, I just spent some time looking at Sager's web site and I did NOT find anything suggesting you could ACTUALLY upgrade the GPU as an end-user. Maybe I missed it, but I was there for about 45 minutes.
The 'advertising' page is a bit misleading, IMO.
Then I tried to find 780M GPU's out on the open market: As you have probably found out, nothing.
So, last suggestion:
Before you give up on your idea, call Sager/Clevo and talk to them directly and see what the story is. You can also try calling Nvidia or contacting their customer support (which isn't very good for us end-users I have found out). Best I can think of. JackNaylorPE gave you a person to call also, give that a try first.
Let us know what you find out.

To be continued....Probably Tuesday I will get on the horn with a few resellers. I have pretty much exhausted all available research on the Clevo bare bones and the MSI I like too. Will let the forum know.
