I have a Steel Series Diablo 3 Mouse and when watching Youtube or Twitch the mouse will randomly freeze for a 1 second then catch up (Chrome or IE). Sometimes it has even shut off. I have updated the mouse drivers and firmware and re-installed drivers. there are no hardware conflicts, ect. ect. Windows 7 64 is updated as well. When gaming with the mouse there are no problems.

When I plug in a junk HP optical mouse everything works fine. When I plug in the Diablo 3 mouse in another computer everything works fine. I can't figure it out what it is with this computer.

My mother board is a GA-Z87X-UD4H (rev. 1.0) with a 15-4670K. (I built it)

I have updated those drivers as well...didn't work...uninstalled those drivers..didnt work. Nothing seems to work. I bought a Razer Deathadder sitting here in the box...waiting to see if I can figure this out before I am done with this mouse.

Any suggestions?

Ok I fixed my problem. A while back I went to update my bios, so I did but the sleep button was greyed out. I reverted back to the old bios. I beleive that is when the problem started.

So tonite i decided to clear the CMOS...that didn't work. So I saved a copy of the bios and decided to try and update the BIOS again. I did and it was a successful update...but the sleep button was greyed out again. Well that is fixed by disabling my on board graphics.

Ran twitch and youtube at the same time and the mouse is running just fine. No freezing and no turning off.

Make sure your USB ports are updated before updating bios. Just to remind you that the Motherboard is a Gigabyte 1150 GA-Z87X-UD4H (rev. 1.0)

here is the website. http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4488&dl=1#ov

Maybe this will help someone someday...

I'm not exactly sure what the issue is but I would suggest you try re-installing engine with administrator privileges (right click - run as administrator) and then do a update mouse firmware again. Whenever I had an issue with my sensei it was always the bloody engine.

thanks for the suggestion...but it didnt work. I am thinking it has to be another program on here that is bothering the mouse. i dont want to reinstall windows and start over.

It is such a strange issue as it only happens when there is some sort of flash video or ad in a browser.

Ok the Diablo 3 mouse was even making my Headphones turn off when I went to twitch. So weird. I unplugged it and plugged the old HP stock mouse and everything is working fine....sigh.

I wish I could figure this out. I really like the SteelSeries Diablo mouse but I am wasting too much of my free time trying to diagnose it. I imagine a fresh install of Windows 7 would probably clear whatever driver/program problem I am having. I think I will wait till windows 8.1 and then upgrade to that and start fresh.

i love my PC but at sometimes it can drive you mad. I like everything to work.

OK so last nite something else happens. If I am on a youtube video and I dont touch the mouse everything is fine. If I grab the mouse and move it around inside the video, the sound on my Headphones shut off and then turn back on. Like the USB port is shutting off.

At this point I am just going to re-install OS...possibly upgrading with Windows 8.

I think that would be good. It would at least help narrow down some things.
Although I am not a fan of windows 8 =p.

So it may be possible I fixed this. I ran CCleaner on all my applications. I also ran malwarebytes (found 4 things) and AVG Scan (found nothing).

The problem seems to be gone for now. The audio was cutting out with in 30 secs...being watching twitch now for 10 mins and watched a 10 min youtube video. No problems. I will wait and see. Maybe upgrade to windows 8.1 when its ready.
