Hey all,

Just got a new SSD. I'm going to keep my hardrive in my computer, but i'm going to use the SSD for the OS and games. So, what order do I install stuff? Should I first install the SSD, put windows on it, then install RAM? Does it matter when I put in the extra ram I just bought? I was thinking i'd put it in before I even install the OS.

RAM, SSD, OS.

Unplug the existing HDD before you install Windows on the SSD.

The RAM honestly shouldn't matter at all. You can install it anytime, though for whatever reason, I guess just because it's natural to me, I install it before the OS. Probably because it's just really easy to do. No reason to delay it when all it is is clicking a stick in place.

As for the extra RAM sticks themselves, I hope you made sure it's the same kit or at least the same frequency and timings as your current RAM. Otherwise you'll probably end up running into a number of issues.

How does this order work?:

Format Current HDD
Unplug Current HDD
Insert Extra Ram
Install SSD
Install OS on SSD
Plug in HDD

?

I would install the RAM with the current drive and OS installed first. (Unless it is 32bit windows and you are going over 4GB)
Ensure that works first.
One change at a time.

Then do the install on the SSD. With the HDD unplugged.
