i got an asus gene and an evga ftw 670 gtx and i like to hook up sound. problem is the graphics card was from an older build and i had no need for sound through hdmi at the time so i put the little wire ya got to hook up to the soundcard/motherboard aside.

for streaming purposes i think it'd be a lot easier if i can get sound working so what's that little wired called and where can i buy it other than newegg? (long story but had some trouble with them a few months ago so never again :)

I think you're referring to an S/PDIF audio cable. You can find them anywhere, from amazon to tiger direct, for around $6 - $15 or so.
