Someone said that any ASUS Z87 can handle Intel Core i5-4670K overclocked from 3.4GHz to 4.4GHz, is it true?

Pretty much if the individual CPU allows that speed.

Would 1.25V be too much?

no, but i wouldn't go much more than 1.3/1.35V. You should be able to get a stable 4.5 Ghz with the multiplyer then you can play with the BLCK by going up 0.5Mhz at a time and then testing it with prime95/burn in test, untill either it crashes ( just remove 0.5Mhz, it should be stable) or untill your prime95/intel burn temps reach about 75 but under 70 is perfect.

Good luck
