as I had to move away from windows XP (f*** you microsoft), I had to ditch some of my old PC parts too, and the main GPU (so not GPGPUs!) was one of them.
I'm not a gamer / headroom overclocker anymore, but the new card (sapphire radeon 7850 dual-x 1GB) is still water-cooled, as the old nvidia G80 GPU was.
It's a bit stupid to mount a water-block and not overclock it, so i'm just asking people here who are familiar with modern graphics cards:
- how much power do I have left on a 7850 card when you disconnect 2 fans and have only 1 6-pins PCIe connector?
- are there any websites with more or less acceptable bios mods for cards like these?
- if the above is not true, how do I prepare a bios mod myself? I use win 7 / ubuntu, and the last one is not really library concerning oc'tools (but is really funny to play with openCL development), so it would be nice to embed it in the bios.
