  1. Best answer
    -install windows
-install gpu drivers (reboot if needed)
-install mobo drivers (reboot if needed)
-install any other utilities you want
-install mouse+keyboard drivers if needed (reboot if needed)
-install printer software as well as any other programs such as word, photoshop or google chrome.

    go to control panel, performance.
    run the windows experience rating.

honestly after that its up to you.
  2. I'm assuming you have the neccessities installed already (AntiVirus, Drivers etc), but, you should be good to go! Go ahead and download Steam and start gaming!
If you want go ahead and overclock your CPU first, (Assuming thats why you got an unlocked CPU and an Aftermarket heatsink), but other then that, you're good to go!

This is my spec, this my first time build and I was curious as to what I should do once I have windows 8 pro 64bit installed etc:

    Drivers
    Windows updates
    Other applications/games
Whatever other utilities you use - www.ninite.com
    Verify monitor settings/calibration

    Enjoy.

3.) Install GPU Drivers (Reboot if needed)
4.) Install Windows Updates (Reboot if needed)
5.) Install other drivers I may have missed

i think this is really what you were after. programs to stress test the pc. i think every single person in this post missed that line! including myself!

    ----------------

    memory: memtest86
    cpu: prime95
    cpu+gpu basic: novabench
    gpu: 3dmark
    generalized: pcmark
    generalized: sisoft sandra
ssd: as ssd (since it writes lots of data though only use it once so you dont decrease your ssd lifespan!!!)
  8. After building gaming PC's for 15+ years, I have never used programs to stress my PC other than the games I played on them.
  9. @egilbe

same here. some like to see what their pc is capable of.

the only program i've used is memtest when i had some bad sticks to see which was the culprit.
