i had a dell XP m1710 several years back. It kinda fried itself with the geforce go graphic card and i wound up kinda tossing it in the closet. Well a little while back i went to turn it on and it seems to work ok now o_O I ran some burn in and stress tests and couldn't get it to reset, bluescreen, or give me graphical glitches. Ihave no idea why its suddenly working ok now.

Anyway i need a laptop temporarily while i build my new computer, i was gonna reformat this thing and use it for now. The questin is with a fresh instal what drivers should i use? Particularly for the graphics card. Should i use the dell drivers? Or should i get the drivers for the geforce go in it from nvidia? I remember hearing that with laptops sometimes you wanna stick with the laptop manufacturer drivers because they have odd little quirks in the setup that dont work with the regular official drivers. Is that the case here or would i be fine getting the updated drivers direct from nvidia?

also, should i try updating the bios? If so, should i do it through dell or whatever the brand of MB i is? Since heat was a problem in the past im not sure if going for MB manufacturer drivers will mess with the fan settings and stuff

thanks for the answer to that, but can anyone chime in on the driver question? Would i be better off for the graphic drivers using the dell ones or the ones straight from Nvidia? Im not sure if using the nvidia ones would cause compatibility issues
