Hi,
In my desktop pc I have a wireless network card which is about 5 years old. Yesterday I had internet installed in my flat and I have a brand new TalkTalk Wireless router. My desktop pc is in the next room but still has problems with the signal strength. Will buying a new (up to date) wireless card help pick up a stronger signal?

Thanks

If the card is defective in some way it may help but likely you have the signal being blocked by something. If this is one of the internal cards many times people put them against a wall. This blocks the antenna from the back and the front since the PC case itself does a great job of blocking wireless. I would try to face the antenna on the machine toward the router and see if it makes any difference at all. You could also try a USB based nic card since you can put those on 15ft long cables which may give you the option to place it in a better signal area.

You may just have interference from a neighbor. Get inssider and see what you can see. Changing the channel on the router may help.
