PSU Dimensions Problems

So, it's time to upgrade my PC, oh how joyous. Just one problem, the dimensions of my current PSU are 5.9 x 5.5 x 3.4 inches, the one that I was looking at is 6.5 x 3.5 x 6. Does this mean I have to get a PSU of the EXACT same size as my current one? Because the one I already have in there is to the edge of the case and can't spare any space.

Link to the PSU I was looking at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

If you have no space in the case then yes. Poor choice on psu anyway.

try this one instead

So even though the 5.9 x 5.5 are swapped in sizes it won't effect anything? Just trying to be sure I don't buy the wrong part/size.

Dimensions aren't given in the same order so I would guess the 5.9 x 5.5 is the same as 5.5 x 5.9. That is the standard ATX supply opening with the 5.5 being the depth of the supply.

Ah, well that's great news. Just the the reviews of the high amount of wires and bad reviews have me worried.

PSU's generally come in standard sizes, you should have no problem with fitting. What GPU are you going to upgrade to? That XFX recommended above is a solid choice.

I was looking at the Sapphire Radeon 7770.

It is cheaper and Antec is a good company but I would not recommend a psu that isn't at least Bronze rated and that one has 2 12V rails which could make upgrading in the future problematic.

That power supply has been used in several System Builder Marathons, even running GTX560's and 7850's. Just because its not bronze doesnt mean its not well made (more often than not this is true)

You could also get a new case and just mount everything in there if you like.
