What's a good second hard drive to increase hard drive access speed?

My PC has a 1TB hard drive and I want to get a 2TB hard drive for backup purposes. So I'm thinking if I could choose a faster hard drive so I can increase performance. My Windows Experience Index is 5.9 for the hard drive (7.6 to 7.9 for the other).

How would performance increase if I add an SSD? (I don't think I will, it's just for curiosity's sake).
What's a good 2TB hard drive for this purpose?

My PC:
Motherboard: Asrock Z77 Pro3M
Processor: Intel core i5 3450 3.1Ghz
RAM: 2 modules of 4GB DDR3 /1600 KINGSTOM HYPERX KHX1600C9D381/4G
Hard disk: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB

Thanks

Your description is VERY confused.. what are you asking?

This 2TB drive for backup or to make your PC faster?
Just adding a SSD will not help much.. you need use the to Replace your current HDD.. and you would probably see most improvement from SSD if you made it your main "system" drive.. i.e. the drive with your OS and all things that would really benefit from speed.

So best.. Buy SSD.. use it for your system drive and key apps.. and use current HDD for mass storage of the rest of your stuff.

If you don't want SSD.. may be get another 1TB and set up a raid0 for speed.... (google it)... but that has risks and does not give you a "backup drive"..

If you really need "backup" capability - then get the new drive and keep it separate...

No idea if I have answered your question.. as it was a bit crap.. but may be gives you enough to ask the real question

Cheers

Thanks for your answer yoji. After Reading it I think I'll get a 2TB or 3TB hard drive for backup. I'm not sure a 3TB drive is as reliable as a 2TB one. Perhaps I'll get a faster Brand such as a WD Caviar Black and use it as main drive, what do you think?. These Caviar Black are about 50€ more expensive than a common Brand such as Seagate Barracuda. Would you advice a 3TB drive?.
