Are SSD's really worth the money?

Thats a decision that only you can make. Go to a computer dept of an electronics store and play with one that has an ssd but comparable otherwise to your system. If your systems is too old to compare to anything newer then perhaps the money is better spent elsewhere.

I just installed 256 GB SSD, 20GB DDR3 on my dell precision M4600....It's worth every penny....My ram usage goes to ~ +15GB at run time. My Simulation run time is cut by 30% to 40%....My run time varies from few hours to 48 hrs...Any savings is worth it.

What slow hard drive did you have that takes minutes to boot up?
I have windows installed on two raid0 arrays, on hdd and one ssd. The arrays take 30 seconds to initialize and then 30 seconds later I'm in windows on the hdd's or 20 seconds later on the ssd's. (their installs are identical)
