Basic specs as follows:

Asrock z77 pro 3
i5 3570
2x4gb ram
win8 pro

whenever i connect my usb3 hard drives ( i have 3 in total now) to the native port, it always connects as usb2.0 in the first instance.

i would need to reboot my computer for it to be detected as usb3.0.

thought it was a driver issue - uninstalled the drivers through dev manager and let it reinstall by itself after restart.

same problem.

any other remedy?

already updated my mobo bios.

can't be the case, because i have 2 rigs and my other gigabyte z77 rig doesn't behave like this. it connects as usb3.0 directly and even if it doesn't, reconnecting it once will switch it to usb3.0.

on the asrock rig, one would have to restart in order to get the usb3.0 connection.

any fix that i could use?

It doesn't happen on every motherbd and can even work and not work on two identical motherbds. There are many threads on this in many forums. A quick google and some reading will verify what I have said.

There's no manual update for win8 usb3 drivers , but bios is already the latest. What other fixes can I try?
