what manufacturer of gpu's is the best?

Hi, I am building a PC and was just wondering why different people make the same GPU. I've done a bit of research and the perform differently aswell . particularly the gtx 760 and 670. So would a cheaper 670 be better than a 760 for games?

They are based on the same chip, but the 760 is a bit slower. It's a marginal difference.

670 is always better than 760 no matter what one you pick. For Nvidia cards the Asus and Gigabyte (and EVGA for the 700 series) are pretty much always a solid buy.
