In the market for video cards so comparing everything from 660ti and AMD 7870 and up.

Just had a quick question about resolution I am scratching my brain trying to answer.

One card says HDMI resolution up to 4096 x 2160, another similar card says maz display resolution 2560 x 1600.

I have a Sony 1080p, 120mhz TV, i5 4670k processor, 8GB mem, in case the info changes anything, though I am just confused, searching forums for a while now.

Any help is appreciated!

Solution
Ignore max resolution, it doesn't mean anything really, in theory the card is only limited by the ports it has, people have run triple 4K off one 7970. Any card you can buy will do 1080p 60Hz (your TV is motion interpolation 120Hz rather than true input) just fine.

760 is better than the 660ti and the same price, its a much better choice. That said, 7950 recently took a nosedive in price unless I'm mistaken, and offers near identical performance to the 760, its kind of hard to turn down.

Solution
660ti: 3840x2160 at 30Hz or 4096x2160 at 24Hz supported over HDMI. 4096x2160 (including 3840x2160) at 60Hz supported over Displayport. using VGA: 2048x1536 (vga is blue component cable)
7870: HDMI: 4096x2160 @ 30 Hz max with DVI-D: 2560x1600 VGA: 2048x1536

Loads of promo games with cards too! Thanks for the quick reply.

- Was comparing a Powercolor 7870 Tahiti with MSI 7950 boost few hrs ago when I first came across the resolution question. Thinking, features& similar price pts aside, its all going to suit me just fine for older games like Tera Online, Nancy Drew, Chess & Tetris. :)
