Hello all,

I am running into a problem that seems to plague a lot of people.

I purchased a Gigabtye GeForce 640 (GV-N640D5-1GL).

I have so far been unable to get a signal onto my monitor. The fan spins nicely, but no signal. All cables are nice and snug.

My current specs are:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA M55 SLI S4 (Ver. 1.0)
CPU: AMD 64 Dual Core 6400+ @3.2GHz
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 700w 12v combined 56a (W0106RU)
RAM: 8GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 866
Old GPU: GeForce 8800GT

I believe my PSU supplies ample power to power this new card. This particular model GPU has no extra power connections to plug in from the PSU like with my old 8800GT.

I flashed to the latest BIOS and reset CMOS and still got the same no signal. There is no onboard VGA on this motherboard and I made sure the PCI-E slot was selected in BIOS. I tried completely wiping all drivers (including registry) for my current 8800GT and still no signal. I also tried booting up with only 1 stick of RAM for the heck of it but still the same issue.

My old card still works completely fine so there is no issue with PCI-E slot damage.

I verified that the new card was not a DOA by popping it in my friends desktop. It booted up nicely for him. I connected it through the VGA port. His specs are even a bit older than mine.

Is it possible that my motherboard is simply not compatible with this card?

I have tried both HDMI and VGA. When it worked on my friend's desktop it was through VGA. There is no DVI adapter on either end of the cord.
