i've tried cleaning it. i've tried redoing the thermal paste on it. updated my drivers opened both sides of my case up put a fan up to my computer and still it will get hot while playing games and shut off my computer. it only get up to about 70 degress celsius before shutting off which to me doesnt seem like its hot at all but its the only thing changing when i monitor my temps and it just shuts down.

i have a nvida geforce gtx 560.

please someone help this thing is driving me crazy and im borderline about to toss it out the window.

Solution
Thermal and Power Specs:
99C Maximum GPU Tempurature (in C)
150W Maximum Graphics Card Power (W)
450W Minimum System Power Requirement (W)
So it should not shut down at 70C. Does sound like a PSU possible issue. Please post all system specs.

also i had my computer plugged into a very old power strip and by very old i mean very old like pretty sure form the 90's old. could this cause issues with possible not getting enough juice from the strip?

Comp. should never be plugged into a strip if possible. Plug into the wall and the rest of the stuff a strip if needed. Are you in a location that uses 240V? If not check to see the PSU is set to the proper wall voltage. Check to see the video card's fan is working when the system is on. If the card is shutting down at about 70C then it may be defective. Can you find one to swap out to check?
