Looking in to doing a mini itx build for the lounge room, already have a good gaming rig but would really like something for the lounge room to watch movies on and do some gaming, fifa 14, bf3/4 on low to medium settings 30- 50 fps at 1080p etc. Pretty tight budget... This is what i was thinking..

Motherboard.. Asrock b75 mini itx $92

Case... Bitfenix mini itx case $99

PSU.. Corsair cx500 $77

GPU... 7770 (i have a spare one) $0

Ram 4 gig 1333 patriot s $37 (will grab another 4 gig later)

Hard drive 500 gig seagate sata3 $56 (will grab a 2tb later)

CPU.. Intel G2130 $85

----------------
Total... $446

----------------
Will that meet my needs for the time being. Like i said i already have a higher end pc so don't need max settings just want to be able to play with mates when they come around and watch movies with the gf. In a year or 2 i will upgrade the cpu to a 2500k or something and the gpu to a 670 or something like that hence the 500w psu, right now just want it to be a low to mid range pc that will play current games.

The AMD build is better IMO.

don't know where you live, but for the US depending what case color you go with
Case: Bitfenix prodigy orange - $80 (with shipping)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811345021
Mobo: Asrock h61 - $60 (with shipping)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157367
PSU: Seasonic 620W - $70 (with shipping)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151096
Ram: Kingston HyperX 4gb - $30
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104261
HD: if you can find a good 500g for that cheap, take it - $56
CPU: go with the cpu you found, great for a starter and since you are going to upgrade later no point in getting a sandy - $85

total - $381

Now im just saying you don't need to go that high end of a mobo, doubtful that youd be looking to overclock much if at all especially in a mini case, and since youd be running a gpu no need to fancy onboard hdmi or anything, you can find cheaper ram (like the one i pointed out) and even cheaper then that for OEM brand. Basically what im saying you can make the computer alot cheaper, have it perform the same if not better, and have that money sooner to buy upgrades or food while you play games with your friends or watch movies with your girl.

Sorry, i should have mentioned i'm in Australia, the parts i listed are pretty much the cheapest i can find for a mini itx build, more concerned with whether or not it will meet my expectations/ compatability issues/ also a bit worried that the cpu is a bit weak for what i'm after possibly?

no the psu you choose is fine, it has a decently strong single rail, more then enough to run that intel and 7770, and still more then enough when you upgrade unless you decide you want something like a 7990 aries or something crazy like that. To give you an example, i run a amd 720 triple core unlock to quad running at 3.5ghz, 7 120mm fans, 1 140 mm fan, 2 500gb HDs, DVD RW drive, and a Radeon 7870 always set on a gaming profile, all on a 520W antec eco psu for over a year, with no issues whatsoever.

Would this AMD build be better or worse?

Motherboard .. MSI fm2 a75ia mini itx $109

CPU a8 5600k $110

PSU.. corsair cx500 $77

GPU 7770 $0

Ram 4 gig 1333 patriot s $37

Hard drive seagate 500gig $56

Case Bitfenix prodigy mini itx $99

Total ... $478

So it's only $32 more, would this be noticeably better in gaming than the original intel buil? Only reason i was going to go intel was because i haven't done a amd build before, i couldn't find a itx mobo for the fx 6300 and i can upgrade the g2130 to a i5 2500k and the gpu in the future with the intel one, but not so sure that the AMD build offers that opportunity, meaning i would need a different motherboard if i wanted to upgrade significantly in the future?

Alright! If you don't have ram or a HDD, I recommend the Adata XPG V1.0 8GB Ram, and the Seagate Barracuda Series, they are nearly as fast as a WD Black but cheaper.
