Alright, so i'm going to be coming back from afghanistan pretty soon, and i'm thinking about upgrading my computer once i get home. My current setup is as follows:
AMD 6950 2 GB (OC'd to 6970)
i5 - 2500k (OC'd to 4.5 ghz)
16 GB DDR3 1600mhz
250GB SSD
1 TB - 7200 rpm
800W PSU

so here's my situation, I only play a few games, and I only play them at 1080p, other than watching movies and stuff i dont use my comp for anything else.
I like to play Skyrim, BF2, Hitman, and Total War, and I like to play them on High or Ultra.
I'll be playing the new total war, and any new Elder Scrolls installments.

My question, do I want to upgrade the videocard so that i can continue playing the new games at 1080p(high - ultra) for a while? or should i 1) keep the setup i have now, and then when the next round of new hardware comes out just build a new computer altogehter, 2) upgrade just the video card or 3) upgrade everything now(i'm not really sold on the haswell)

all i want to do, is run these games at 1080p on high - ultra for another year, if i were to upgrade now, would you recommend the gtx 760, 770, or 780?

despite my experience which has been nothing but great with the 6950, i want to switch to a NVIDIA card

Solution
just stick with what you have atm, i doubt you have any real issues with any of the games you play.Waiting a year will 1. Allow the new haswells that came out time to develop a real reputation as well as newer ones to come out. 2. probably will be lower in price (like black friday for instance) 3. gpu's will also be cheaper (i bought a 7870 for 290 dollars and now i can get a 7970 for just a bit more :/ ). 4. gives you time to decide if a new build is completely necessary for what you do. I'd say id just relax until big xmas and black friday sales and hope what you're looking at goes on sale.
