Hi everyone, I'm about to buy a Clevo laptop but I can't decide whether or not the laptop with the GTX 780M SLI is worth getting over the one with the single 780M.

The price difference is almost £700! ($1050).

I mainly want to use the laptop for gaming, does anyone know what performance difference I should expect between the two laptops? If the fps boost isn't at least +50% from the SLI then I'll buy the one with the single 780M.

Thanks!

Before I do any research , let me tell you this. Laptops aren't meant for gaming , they gain heat really fast sotheir parts don't usually last long. Building your own Desktop is cheaper and probably more fun.
SLI and Crossfire is very similar. SLI is from nVidia while Crossfire is from AMD. Using SLI / Crossfire is using 2 graphics Cards together . It's obviously better. So I guess the GTX 780M SLI Supports SLI.

My guess may not be correct as I haven't done any research. Ifyousay you need to use a laptop to do your work , buy a separate Laptop for work and keep a desktop at home.

I know what you mean, but the question isn't whether or not SLI 780M is better, it's how much better is the 780M SLI compared to one 780M and whether or not the performance increase justifies a £700 cost increase.

Clevo laptops have a good track record of durability. I know a desktop would be optimal for gaming but a desktop isn't a plausible solution for me. I need a laptop :(

I guess I'll buy a cooling stand for the laptop to counter the heat issue a bit too.

Back to the original question, is 780M SLI more than a 50% boost over gt 780M? I'm going to be playing games like Skyrim on ultra settings @ 1080p.

Ah I see, 40% doesn't seem to be worth the price increase for me.

I guess I'll see if they offer the SLI compatible laptop with just a single graphics card, then maybe in a year or two when the price is a bit lower I can buy a second graphics card.

Thanks for your help!

The 780m is enough power for this generation and the next two.
Get the 780 m, without sli, just not worth the extra money.

The sli version is better but not worth the extra money. You will be fine for two-three years if not more with the standard 780m

By the time your 780m is outdated, you will be looking for a new laptop at any rate.

If your heart is set on sli, consider the 765 sli by nvidia, should give you similar performance but much cheaper.
