HDMI Cable not working !

HI, i just came back with my brand new HDMI cable however when i plug it in ... there is image but no sound . Moreover when i turn it into HDMI mode my 1920x1050 resolution is not working only the 1680x1050 works on the full screen . Any help here ? Can the monitor/graphics card be broken ?

does your monitor have speakers? Did you install the drivers for your graphics card? I don't think its the cables problem.

Well i guess the monitor has speakers thats what it said in the description when i bought it, Graphics card drivers are installed.

Did you tell Windows to use HDMI and the default audio device? Is sound still coming from any other speakers?

If on Windows Vista/7/8 please use the Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Manage Audio Devices to see what is the Default(green check mark) playback device.

The default device is Realtek digital output (Optical ) However on my Realtek HDMI Output it says cable is not connected when is crearly connected as i am using HDMI image right now .

What video card are you using? if it is onboard, sometimes you need to change a setting in the bios to enable HDMI audio.

If you are using the AMD card, Your default device should be set to AMD HDMI Output. Do you have that option?

Blurry video may mean you have to adjust the overscan/underscan settings in the Catalyst Control Center.

For Over scan.
Should be under AMD Catalyst Control Center -> My Digital Flat Panels -> Scaling Options.

For Audio, You will have to check the Device Manager to ensure you have you AMD Audio drivers installed correctly.

Please run devmgmt.msc (STart + R and paste devmgmt.msc into the run box or just start search devmgmt.msc)

Check under Sound, video and game controllers to see what you have.

And you do NOT see the ATI HDMI Audio as an option under Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Manage Audio Devices?
