And so it begins! Read: http://ark.intel.com/compare/65520,65523,65732

>supports standard ram.
>doesn't actually need a server mobo: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H77%20Pro4-M/?cat=CPU
>more cache than an i5 + hyperthreading
>cheaper than an i5
>turbo boosts to 3.7ghz
>doesn't waste dye on useless on-board graphics.
>runs cooler than either
>uses less power than either

Basically a locked i7 for the price of a i5 and much cooler, stable and power savvy then either.

- Unlike an un-standard RAM?
- So does a regular i5.
- By 10$.
- i5 can be OC'd to 4.6GHz-4.8GHz if it's a good Overclocker - can the Xeon do that?
- So if your GPU dies you're screwed until you purchase a new GPU? smart..
- True and true. Not much of a big deal to anyone though.

And so it ends.

>UNLIKE ECC RAM THAT SERVER CHIPS USE. Do your goddamn research before you come guns blazing, genius.
>You need to spend money on aftermarket coolers, and a z77/z87 board, money that you could invest towards a better GPU.
>I don't plan on OC'ing, that's why my build uses a stock cooler. So Xeon wins vs a non-K i7 and is much cheaper.
>- "So if your GPU dies you're screwed until you purchase a new GPU? smart.." Is this supposed to be an argument? What if your monitor dies, you're screwed until you purchase a new monitor? No point in buying a single monitor, should invest in atleast 3+. Because what if the 2nd dies while the 1st one is dead? I mean you're screwed, VERY SMART.

Are you comparing OC or not?
You compared to a K series. Check your links before posting.

- An i5 doesn't use ECC as well. genius.
- An i5 can run on stock cooler as well if not OCing.
- The i5 3470 is 30$ cheaper than the Xeon. (3470 is chosen because we're not OCing)
- Not the same thing. Here you get the built-in GPU for the same price (10$ more..)
Can you purchase 3 Monitors for 10$? If you can - got for it!

And? The chart doesn't take into account overclocking, so it's the same as a comparison with non-K versions.

>- "An i5 doesn't use ECC as well. genius." Are you trying to brag about NOT being able to use ECC? I just explained what "non-standard" ram means, since obviously you were trying to get out a definition out of me by asking "Unlike an un-standard RAM?". A Xeon can use BOTH.
>Why are you comparing the price with a i5-3470? When the Xeon performs like a i7-3770? The 3770 is 60$ MORE EXPENSIVE that the Xeon. The Xeon has a bigger cache than a 3470 and uses hyperthreading, and has a higher clockrate.
>You can buy a e3-1235-v2 if you need your precious little on-board graphics to save you from apocalyptic lighting bolts raping your GPU.
>Can you purchase a brain for 10$? If you can - go for it!

Had an answer for all, but then I saw this. Not worth discussing if it's coming to this.
Have a nice day mate :)
