suddenly the dvd drive is not working properly . the led light blinks every second
dvd drive is not showing up in my computer , eject button is not working

edit : now checked the bios, my dvd is not there in the bios boot up priority .

and when i restarted my pc , it appeared "starting windows " the screen then flashed 2 times and then
windows error recovery appeared ..

WIndows failed to start . A recent hardware or software change might be the cause .

If windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly , startup repair can help diagnose and fix the problem . if power was interrupted ..................

I launched start up repair and after some time the wizard said it could not resolve ..

so what exactly is happening ?

1. shut down machine, turn off PSU (if it has a switch). unplug power cable. re-seat both ends of cable to DVD. plug power cord back in, turn PC back on. check device manager under dvd/cd for your device.

2. get a known good SATA or PATA cable (whichever your drive connects with) and test with that, same steps as above.

3. plug cable into a differerent SATA/PATA socket on your motherboard, preferably a known good.

4. test with a known good cd/dvd drive if you have another machine available, else...

5. buy a new DVD burner, LG 24x DVDRW
