My laptop, which I need for work, has been freezing randomly, always doing different things when it happens. Any audio stops, lights on keyboard won't change (when I press Caps Lock the light won't come on), the cursor won't move, the time stops, etc. Replaced the hard drive because the shop I brought it to suggested that may be the issue. I've run antivirus software and it comes back fine. Laptop used to overheat, but the shop fixed that problem and said the current issue doesn't seem to be related to that. I'm running out of ideas here. What could this be?

try and go to search - type device manager and look for any yellow warning markers
if you Download and run SuperAntiSpyware or Malwarebytes, and do a full scan afterupdate you might detect something
Run antivirus scan
also checkthe memory with memtes86 it may be due to this
Make sure that you are not over heating you can download something that tells your laptops temp
Try in safe mode
Make sure PSU is working properly
If overclocking, restore to original
Test hard drive at company website.
Type event viewer, in search (by start button) and look for errors that may show the cause of the problem.Look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).
When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.
