Hey guys, I am looking forward to buying a new gaming pc to run bf4 and other new games in high resolutions. However, im having a little issue with the mobo and the cpu, I have a tight budget and these are the only options

Fx 6300 w/ Gigabyte GA 970

i5 3470 W/ Msi B75 Ma P45

I will be using a 7870 for my gpu

Will be there any bottleneck? Both kits cost the same

Thanks in advance

Not entirely true. You can't change the multiplier, but you can definitely overclock non-K intel CPUs. i5-3470s can hit around 4.0Ghz on all cores. True, "both will do fine," but one is clearly a better option if some how they are similar in price, which is what I believe OP is asking.

You cannot overclock a non-k i5 more than 400 MHz...additionally, considering the length of trouble you have to go to in order to do that, it's highly not worth it.

Also, FX 6300 @ 4.5 GHz > i5-3470

EDIT: Also, the 6300 is typically at least $70 cheaper.

The price difference was noted, and 400Mhz would put it at 4.0Ghz, as noted. Can you really say "FX 6300 @ 4.5 GHz > i5-3470" when the i5 starts out in a different class altogether? For reference: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/366240-28-3470-6300

Those are outdated, and entirely subjective.

I am a game developer...and as a game developer...I still say FX 6300 @ 4.5 GHz > i5-3470.

EDIT: 400 MHz would put it at 3.8 GHz

Fair enough, but no less subjective. And people have definitely gotten 3470s to 4.0, regardless of my notation mistake.
