Need a $1000 Build -- No Overclocking (and probably no SLI.)

Hey there.

It's been years since I've had a new computer and I believe I'm planning on getting one that should suit my needs for the next several years. I'm not extremely into gaming, mostly multiplayer Steam games. I don't have much interest in overclocking either.

Frankly, I'm out of the loop concerning computer components. I don't know what is needed with what. If I get the i5-4670, do I need a CPU cooler? Will my GPU allow sound through HDMI? I don't plan on SLI, but do want a highly capable GPU. I also need an SSD and the more RAM, the merrier. Things like that, etc.

If you have a recommended, well-rounded build for ~$1000 I'd be interested to see it.

If there are funds left over, and even if not, I'd appreciate your suggestions for a good mechanical keyboard, and a widescreen monitor well suited for extensive text-reading.

Thanks.

The HDD is nearly as fast as an SSD, also the Stock Intel Cooler will do fine at stock speeds....

EDIT: $7 bucks over, but who can't afford $7?? Especially if your building a comp, $7 is nothing.
EDIT 2: Or you can get this build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1yS9x
and have $45 extra, its the same performance as the first build, just the Case doesn't look as good/isn't as high quality as the case in the first build, and doesn't have a side window, LED Fans etc...

Since he already has a computer, he probably already has a monitor, also the i7-4770 is completely unnecessary, the Video Card that is in my listed build would blow yours out of the water any day....

EDIT: Also 16GB is not neccessary...
EDIT 2: My entire build I made for the OP would wreck that build anyday also.... Overpriced build for the performance that your going to get out of it...

I'm considering getting 16GB ram-- I don't know if that's overkill for what I want or not, but I often multitask. (Edit: multitasking is why I considered getting the additional RAM. If 8 GB is sufficient though, would I want 2x 4gb sticks or 1x 8gb?)

Is there a very good reason to be spending over $100 on the motherboard when the ASRock H87 is $74 and also compatible?

Also, I should add, this PC is going in the bedroom, so keeping it quiet with the case and fan is something I'd like to keep in mind. I don't mind spending up to $40 extra on a nice looking case with LED fans and such, especially if the build quality is better.

Thanks for the quick suggestions.

16GB is overkill unless your Rendering, Editting, gaming, and running a virtual box at the same time, but nobody does that, so 16GB is overkill...

Thanks.

I'm still curious about your choice of Motherboard? If you could elaborate -- not the greatest nor the most widespread reviews for it. The ASrock H87 gets 5 eggs and saves about $30.

Oh, thats because I've had good experiences with Asus in the past... Its not in my current build, as my current build is my main one, which is overkill for what I'm doing, but my build is future proof, only thing I'll need to upgrade in the future is my Video Card, if you want to know my current build, just ask, I built it for $1600. As for ASRock, I've had a bad mobo from them, back in my very first build.
