I'm looking to get a sound card soon, however know nothing about them. I've tried finding some info and have found some, although more professional opinions would be great. My budget is $50ish usd and I want just a decent 7.1 card that has good audio nothing spectacular. After looking at some on newegg Asus seems to have the best choices between $30-$60 with their Asus Xonar models. But I'm at an impass because they all seem like the same card and I can't tell much apart from them.

this is the card in particular I was looking at.

If you are not overly picky, even motherboard audio will get the job done.

Also please ensure you HAVE a pci slot as those are getting harder to find(more and more boards going pci-e only).

If you do not, do not worry, many cards come in pci-e as well.

I personally have an X-FI Titanium(pci-e and now discontinued) and to me it sounds just fine and has all the features I could want.
