why do i get runtime erros when trying to print

You need to provide a LOT more information, including your system configuration. Include the printer; is it local (in which case what [type of] port), or on a LAN? OS version? Application(s) throwing the errors? Using specific drivers, or something generic like the HP Universal Failure drivers? Do all defined printers (particularly the default printer) actually exist and can communicate to the subject PC?
