Hi there, I am consider of buying the GTX 760 over the GTX 660. The Problem is that in Malta, only the blowout version exists as GPU, unlike the GTX 660

The GTX 660 is this brand : http://www.scanmalta.com/eshop/2gb-gigabyte-gtx-660-gdd...

There are also 2 brands of the GTX 670 which are the EVGA an the Gigaybyte Brand:

EVGA: http://www.scanmalta.com/eshop/2gb-evga-geforce-gtx760-...

Gigabyte: http://www.scanmalta.com/eshop/2gb-gainward-geforce-gtx...
----

I currently hve a GTX 470 from Gainward and it overheats a lot (it's a blowout version), and to be honest, I'm a bit scared in buying another one of this type but it's the only type sold in this country. I know the 4xx series had serious issues with overheating, but do you think the GTX 760 is a good deal?? even the blowout version? Is there a major difference between GTX660 and GTX 760? At this moment only 80 euros difference but is it worth the extra cost? I have checked some Benchmarks and there is an overall of around 0.5 out 10 difference (improvement)

Thanks a lot for your time

NOTE: The only difference this website is saying there is between the Gainward and the EVGA is that the Gigabyte is SLi Compatible. I do NOT intend to use the SLi feature, so when comparing, ignore that feature thanks :) .. i just mostly care about the Power Consumption / Overheating (IMP issue) and mostly the FPS

It is worth it to buy the gtx 760 over the gtx 660. There is a pretty big difference.

As for the two brands, EVGA is the better of the two brands in terms of reliability and customer service. Both should produce the same amount of heat and perform roughly the same. The cards will automatically start throttling down if the temperature gets too hot anyways. This usually happens at 80 degrees Celcius, but you can change that using special programs such as EVGA Precision X and msi Afterburner.

Now, I know you're worried about overheating and such and I would just like to reassure you that the gtx 760 produces much, much less heat than the gtx 470. The gtx 400 series was known for being super hot and the gtx 700 series is much cooler.

Hello,

In regards to your question about the 760 vs the 670, right now the 760 will perform better (even if it is just slightly) but in the next generation of games, you are going to want the new drivers for the newer cards and your going to want the brand new architecture. Honestly you will regret it if you don't - even if it is 80 euros it is so worth it in my opinion.

The best brand of card to buy would have to be EVGA. Now unfortunately I cannot speak from experience just yet but I am considering getting a EVGA gtx 780 SC w/ ACX cooler. The reason I chose this, was because i used the live chat feature on nvidias website to ask some questions. When I asked what you asked they told me to go with EVGA because that is where the least number of complaints come from. They also (as mentioned) have the best customer support and reliability.

The cooling system that the card has is very different. Another reason for getting the 760 would be due to the drivers that EVGA offer which allow you to set a target temperature and the card will go down to tat temp and adjust the performance as well. I also know that the 760 has more support as it is a newer card.

Regards,
Matt :)

So between the the Gigabyte and the EVGA you would all would go for the EVGA one, even if it is a blowout version (Closed casing with one output fan)

Customer Service in Malta, we do not actually have, so overall I don't mind the Customer Service.. I mostly care about the Cooling features and the reliability :)

Thanks a lot

Hey,

I would go for the EVGA over the Gigabyte in a heart beat. If you really are uncomfortable about the cooling then I would recommend looking at a card with ACX cooling (http://www.evga.com/Products/ProductList.aspx?type=0&fa...)

That is a link to the whole product family loo for the ones with two coolers!

Matt :)
