Hi,

I'm looking to build low power system mainly for downloads/extraction and NAS.
I know its overkill but I've tried Atom and didn't like the speed there.

My question is regarding the idle power of this two CPU.
from exploring the net i've seen few reviews with different values.

While Idle, will those CPU consume about the same even due to higher TDP on the 4670K?

Solution

In that case, go for it. Hell, if you ever wanted to, you could game/render on it. Good insurance.

While the idle speeds are different, both should actually power down to almost half the base clock. We're talking like ~1.6ghz or something like that. Through the course of a year, the difference in cost will be negligible - less than $10 depending on your KW/h price.

If you're just downloading, you should try getting a cheaper cpu though. If you're set between those two, then choose the 4570s and save a little.

Great. I guess with 4670K underclocked I can get to 4570s or even less :O) right ?

One more question please in this case.
does Gigabyte GA-B85M-HD3 or Asus B85M-G have any feature to change the clocking (Undercloking as we discussed)
