Hello,

I recently purchased Synology RS812RP+ and I would like to ask your opinion regarding the following HDDs:
4xWD Red 3TB vs 4xSeagate NAS 3TB.

I’ll use the Synology NAS as a fille server in a small business, about 60 users.
And allso back up company data as a temporrary solution for max 1 year.

As I've read the last days, the Seagate is not as apreciated as WD lately.
Allso that the WD reds have a 25% failing rate.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Best regards,
You’re opinion will be much apreciated.

PS: excuse my spelling, I am not a native english person. :)

3tb drives don't have enough of a 'history' for me to use alot yet. A few customers have asked for them though and the Reds were really the only choice. The Reds came out in about July followed by the RE's in Sept(?) 2012...

As they are now becoming more mainstream, I have a couple of the Seagate 3TB I bought to play with but I haven't had time to install and test them yet.

25% I would say is a bit over the top and I would think that if WD was actually experiencing that kind of loss they would rectify it before they lost too much money warrantying all those drives. Like most products, happy people seldom post but the unhappy ones love to.
