Help in repairing a PC - it has DG31PR board and Core 2 Duo processor. It has 2 DDR2 Ram DIMMs.

My PC works for about 15-30 minutes and then shuts down. I do not know what is at fault. I tried to create a minimal configuration of Mother Board + Processor + 1 DIMM + A Monitor. But even in this configuration the PC shuts off after 15 mins and needs to disconnected from the power for 30 min, before it can be powered up again. It seems that either the processor or motherboard heats up.

Please suggest an economical mother board being manufactured these days to support the LGA775 slot for the core 2 duo. But since I am not even sure that the processor is working fine should I should buy a motherboard and processor combination. I do not want to buy used items, since I may not get good life from them.

Sorry, I do not have any instruments like the ones people may have in the shops. Though in India, shop people also may not be able to afford expensive equipments.
When I touch the parts of motherboard with my hand, I find the "Intel 82801GB I/O Controller Hub (ICH7)" chip the hottest (too hot to touch) - the heatsink on "Intel 82G31 GMCH" and the heatsink of processor, both seem to be at the room temperature. I think ICH7 is called southbridge - it does not have a heatsink. I do not know why the southbridge does not have a heat sink (It never had since the motherboard was purchased!).
