Will trying this hurt my CPU ?

I have an Intel E7300 that I would like to put to use ( and OC ) but the only 775 MoBo I have is a Gigabyte GA-8VM800M-775, I've seen where the board will take an E6850 and all the way up to a QX6850 but I can't find out if it will take this E7300.
Has anybody tried this ?
If I do will it hurt the CPU ?
Is there a BIOS update that I need to get ? I think F9 is the newest I've seen ( March 2012 ) but I couldn't find an updated CPU supported list...
The guy I got the E7300 had it in a Gigabyte G41MT-S2PT and I saw where he had it up to 3.4+/-Mhz and it was stable, he got a Quad that he put in the Mobo now, so I traded him a Sony CD/DVD burner for the E7300.
Any info would be helpful because since this is an older Mobo I'm having trouble finding info about it.

Thanks for that info because this CPU has been working just fine in a different board.
This mobo still has the older BIOS on it from when I had a Celeron D in it, so after I put the E7300 on it I'm kinda gonna have to start out with the old BIOS. But I just downloaded the latest BIOS (F9) into a folder on my main Rig ( the one I'm using Right now-ASUS M3A32 -MVP Deluxe Wi-Fi Edition w/ Phenom II 965 @3.69Ghz) and I was going to copy it to a USB stick to use with the other rig. I haven't stuck the CPU in the board yet, but my question is will the older BIOS recognize the E7300 ? or should I update it before installing the newer CPU ?
Like I said at Gigabytes Website the list only went up to the E6850, but now there's a newer BIOS out.

Hey guys thanks for the help, I checked on what you both said and confirmed it ( even thou some VIA chipset will run 1066mhz like the one on the BIOSTAR P4M800 Pro -M7 Ver. 8.0 (http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=94#spec) and it supports Core 2 Duo's, but only up to the E6400. So I guess I'm just going to have to find a new/used motherboard for this E7300 to work with and pull this Mobo out of the case and stuff it in another one I have and sell it on Craigslist for peanuts.

Any good suggestions ?

I want the board to have the ability to OC the CPU and a PCI Express slot. I have sound cards and plenty of HDD's, PSU's, GPU's and cases, its just this Gigabyte board was the only one I had that was an Intel 775, all the rest of the boards and CPU's I have are AMD type.

Hey "u gonna Squeal b4 we cookya" , I also did some checking around and found that the cost to buy parts to use this E7300 are not worth the expense. There's a lot cheaper options out there like you said. I was just hoping to reuse an old mobo I already had. I think I'll just wait until I get another upgrade or recovery job for someone's computer problems and hopefully they have a board I can get or I'll keep my eyes open for something to pop up, lord knows I get different request every week. ( it a side job I've been doing for quite a few years, 1st build was in 1998 with 13 bags of parts and a beige box from a computer fest here in Charlotte...a PII 350Hhz with MMX technology/32mb of PC100/8GB HDD and Bellsouth dial up......whoopee, but back then it was great for the times and $300....currently I have an ASUS mobo with a Phenom II 965 BE 3.4 running at 3.69( I haven't stepped on it much, I'm waiting for the thermal paste to get right since I just installed an OCZ Vendetta 2 monster heat pipe and the ASUS cool Mempipes, my PowerUp 2526 Full ATX case has 1 front intake ,1 side, 1 rear exhaust, so the insides say pretty cool and my house is A/C'd year round @72, so I don't think over heating is going to be a problem, heck I get more heat out of the Radeon 4870 1GB DDR5 GPU than any thing else.
So I'm fine with my main rig, I was just trying to get that E7300 to work in a board I had got for free, (well I removed that FBI Ransomware virus for a client) I got the CPU for $15 last year so its no big deal if it sits for a while longer. I've also got another system I use for just burning CD's ( Phenom II 550 BE )
But thanks for your advice and you have a great day.

P.S. if I pick up a cheap mobo, I might be back for some advice on how hard I can push the E7300, I actually have a water cooling heatsink setup that will fit on it, just need the right mobo to play with...

That's a good suggestion about the Goodwill store, we've got a Goodwill computer store here in Charlotte and I've bought some older DDR1 from them @$10 for a 1gig stick where on Fleabay they were the same or more with shipping cost added. I've been watching Craigslist for a compatible board, but haven't seen one yet. I might ride out to the Goodwill after work this evening.

OMG your not gonna believe what I just found....a freakin list of every motherboard that is compatible with the E7300...it was on CPU-Upgrades website...http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/Core_2_Duo/E7300_motherboards.html...and bigger than shit that old Gigabyte GA-8VM800M-775 wasn't on the list.
Man I am so sorry I wasted you guy's time....god I feel like a retard..because I've used CPU-Upgrade's site before when I was trying to find a board for an old Athlon 64.
Well it wasn't a total waste, you did give me some good advice and I appreciate it....
ya know my ol' pappy use to say this and it still holds true Today:

"it is only thru Communication, that knowledge is Gained....

and I'm a bit smarter than I was yesterday thanks to ya'll.
