Hi,
I have a Ceton Infinitv 4 tuner installed in my Windows 7 HTPC. I use one tuner for my WMC setup (works fine). I have a second tuner linked to another PC on the home LAN (works fine). I want to run another tuner in a VirtualBox VM on the HTPC. I setup the VM with WMC just like the host but the VM cannot see the Infinitv. The VM is on a different subnet and can ping the main NIC, but the Infinitv diagnostic tool on the VM still cannot find the tuners. The VM can get to the Internet. I bridged the NIC and the Infinitv together already on the host and this is why my LAN PC can get a tuner.

Does anyone know what I am missing?

Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I did get the InfiniTV tuner recognized by my VM by bridging the VM NIC to the host. I was able to partition out one of my tuners to my VM .. all good so far.

But, I got stuck after that. WMC on the VM cannot play live TV (or anything but a recording that was already there). I added VLC and codecs and tried everything and finally gave up. I'm getting the following error message when trying to use Live TV in WMC:

Video Error - Files needed to display video are not installed or are not working correctly. Restart Windows Media Center or restart the computer.

This error can mean a hundred different things based on Google searches. After a couple of frustrating days, I came to the conclusion that I won't be having a separate tuner working in a VM on the WMC host.

That sounds like it's the video card driver -- or lack of a physical video card in a VM. You might not be able to play TV with a Virtual Video Card in VirtualBox. Have you looked into this? Can you run video tests on the VirtualBox?
