FX-8100 , good for gaming with a gtx 660 ?

I guess you already have the FX-8100 ? If not, I'd rather advice you to get an FX-8320. But if you already have it, yeah, it should be fine with the GTX 660.

Once you get past a $120 cpu budget, Intel of some sort will generally be better for gaming.
Below that amd does well.

I would say once you hit $200 really.
The 8350 is as good as any i5, especially depending upon the game/task.
The 6350 is similar to an i5 for FAR less money...
The 6300 is better than any i3 for the same/more money.
The FX 4300/4350 is typically about i3 performance in games and better in productivity for less money.
Where you are right is the $200-250+ CPUs. (Which I would argue not to spend the money on anyway...though some will)
