So I was just on the internet browsing youtube etc, and all of a sudden everything freezes so I hold down the power button to restart my pc, upon restart it will freeze like after 1 second of loading into windows.

My PC has been working for quite a while and all of a sudden this happens i dont know why?

I have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit by the way.

Could it be a problem with my motherboard? Because I did have to RMA my previous motherboard.

My specs if it matters are

Asrock Z87 Extreme6 Mobo
GTX 770
16GB RAM
Samsung 830 128GB SSD
1TB HDD
Intel Core i5-4670K

Thanks.

Well all of a sudden now my PC is working fine again, I let it stay off for about 5 minutes and booted it and it's been on now ever since.

My PSU is XFX 750W Semi modular

Ok I think I figured out the problem, I think it is my CD/DVD drive?

When I insert a disc in the drive, it will load up the disc and then freeze the whole PC, but when I take the disc out and restart the PC, it works all fine.

Also I tried using a different disc to see if it freezes and it seems it only freezes when I insert this one specific disc.

Anyone know what is wrong or should i try plugging my CD/DVD drive in a different SATA port?

Yes, switch sata ports and see if that "weird" disc freezes the PC. If it does, and none of your others do NOT, then the content or surface of the disc is bad. Not much you can do about that
If the weird disc does NOT lock up the computer, and no other discs lock it up, leave well enough alone.

Also, along the lines of LoneWolf7's thinking, is your PC's interior clean? Heat build-up caused by poor air flow or dirt can cause 'puters to lock up.

Yes my PC is clean it is recently built and has good airflow my case is Corsair 500R.

Ok so I tested the disc again and it still freezes my PC so I tried putting the disc into my laptop cd drive and it works on my laptop though. The CD is just an audio CD and I was trying to erase the disc to add new music on it. Weird because my other discs and stuff work on my PC.

I have had similar problems. One more thing to try before spending $20 on another DVD-RW: Open the DVD and blow it out as best you can with some canned air, then try that disc again. It sounds like the CD/DVD player just doesn't like that disk (I gather it is a CD-Rewritable). If you don't want to get a new DVD, put that disc into your laptop, copy everything to the laptop, then rerecord whatever you want to save onto a new disc.
