So I've decided to make the switch from console to pc and have decided to start my first build. I have yet to make a purchase but am thinking of buying Sapphire HD 7870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

CPU - AMD FX-6300 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=19-113-...

RAM - Corsair vengeance blue 8Gb http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-PC3-12800-1600m...

I'm wondering what budget motherboard would be compatible with said hardware and if this would offer good gaming performance. I'm planning on playing games like Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, and GTA V. I'm hoping for high to ultra settings with FPS upwards of 60. The PC will be used exclusively for gaming, no rendering software, no photoshop, and no video editing. Thanks Guys!

I didn't mean the best performing motherboard (I know it doesn't improve performance). I mean are the parts i picked good choices for a budget pc build? I mean will there be any substantial bottleneck or will the parts work well together. I'll check out the asrock 990 extreme3.

It provides the most important thing in the system: stability.

People tend to only think about performance, and pick negligible gains over stability.

I assume you have a budget to fit, in which case your selection is very good. I would go with one of these MB's:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

The first one is a great deal, the second one is made with military grade components for the highest level of reliability. Both are great manufacturers, meaning good support. I avoid buying motherboards that don't sell much, because you risk running into a problem few people have and the company doesn't really care about.

If you have to buy a PSU too, pick a decent one. If you have to cut costs, pick a decent PSU over a premium motherboard.

Are both of those mobos compatible with the CPU, GPU, and RAM? Also will the CPU, GPU, and RAM i chose offer a good gaming experience? Thanks a lot.

Yes they are compatible. The parts you picked will provide a good gaming computer. The limitation, as is in most cases, is the video card.

Ultra settings with FPS over 60 is quite a lot to ask, I don't think it will be achievable. See this for instance:

http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/battlefield-4-...

The 7870 is a decent video card that will let you play any game, with a reasonable image quality setting. If you have more money to spend on a better card, do so. If not, go for it.

Thanks for the response but those motherboards are out of my price range. I might use the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... and my psu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=17-159-... I checked my wattage on pcpartpicker.com and it said the build would only output 84-369W

I understand the price restriction, that should be a good motherboard and Gigabyte is a good vendor.

As for the PSU, if you already have it, it should work. If not, definitely look for something else, some 20 bucks more will get you a decent PSU that will last you years and prevent exposing your hardware to bad power conditions.

Thanks for the help and by the way the testing done in that link is still from the alpha build and will not have quite the graphic optimization that the final build should have.

Hey so i actually found out that the 7950 is just $30 more than the 7870 and supposedly runs visually demanding games with substantially better frame rates. Would the GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P mobo be compatible with the Sapphire Radeon HD 7950?
