According to that Microsoft link, if you are using the drive as a non-boot drive then you don't need to do anything in BIOS.
Your O/S just needs to be Win XP SP3 and newer.
Sorry, don't know what else to suggest. Hopefully other Forum members will respond and help you fix your problem.
Here are the requirements for HDDs greater than 2TB in size: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2581408
thanks buddy, i read the article and my motherboard is UEFI based, however when i connect the 3TB as a secondary drive (for storage) it does not appears when windows starts, any ideas what to do on the UEFI settings to make it work?
You need to go into Windows Disk Management, initialize the drive using GPT, assign the drive a drive letter, and quick format the drive.
It should then be ready to use.

I did that but i cant see the 3TB disk, i can only see the primary drive wich is a WD 1TB and my dvd drive, do i need to update bios or something?

I am running a 3TB drive on a far older(H55) non uefi system.
apparently is some kinda working, i installed the Intel Rapid Storage Manager and now i can see there is a second drive on it but says 0GB, when i try to go to my pc, manage, and then storage, a window popup tells me to choose a partition style for the 3TB disc, MBR or GPT, when i choose one, i just get an error that says function incorrect,
Did you select GPT? its the one you have to use for 3tb drives(~2.2 and bigger)
i actually tried to do it with both and received the same error "Function incorrect", and i can see the disc on there, but it contains a red arrow pointing down..
It may be worth seeing if the drive makers has a software package to help.
If it helps any, My Intel SATA AHCI Controller drivers are version 11.6.0.1030. the RST matches that. Ensure that your RST updated the SATA AHCI drivers as well maybe?
