I'll start with this, I'm not an idiot, but I'm also not really good with this.

My MB had a chip fry last week. So I went to buy a new MB, and couldn't find one to fit my (775) cpu. so I upgraded, had to.

I bought a Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H motherboard. Intel i7-4770k @3.50 GHz cpu, 8GB corsair DDR3 ram. I have a evga gtx-260 gpu, creative gaming sound card. corsair 750w ps. I couldn't access the bios from the start; during post no matter what key I hit, it goes to a blank black screen. monitor acts as though there is no signal. But I have no intent on overclocking, cause I don't understand it. so I wasn't too worried about it.

I have a Samsung 5400rpm 500gb hard drive, and it was slowing me down. my intent was to replace the drive and the gpu as money became available. An ssd was on sale today only, I bought it. SanDisk 256GB 2.5" SATA Ultraplus. I can use it as storage only, and it doesn't show up when I view my computer, I can see my primary, external and cd-dvd drive as normal but the ssd doesn't show. It does show in device manager and says it is working properly. So I said ok, disconnected the 5400 rpm and restarted with win7x64 disc in the cd drive. it started to install and says it cannot install to the selected drive because it is listed as gtp or gpt, not really sure, I can try it again to see what it says if needed. but it tells me to reconfigure the drive in my bios and then install win7. and now I'm here cause I cannot do that. I'm frustrated and decided I better ask for help before I do something stupid. Any info or advice is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for your time.

**update**
I should've been clearer, sorry. Before I bought the SSD, I couldn't access the bios, or any other feature during post. That was from the moment I powered up after the MB and CPU upgrade. Pause-Break works, but that's it. I wasn't overly concerned with that because like I said, it is brand new and has the latest bios revision anyway. But since I bought the SSD and need to get into the bios to set up the drive, I'm in a hole. I did try to format it with the info provided and it wouldn't give me the option to do it. Should I create a volume and then delete or format? I'm afraid to do anything at this point because I've heard that SSD's are sensitive and I don't want to ruin it, they are expensive for the amount of storage per dollar you get. I thought about it at work today, I will install the onboard video drivers, and see if, using that, I can see the bios.

As it is now, it goes to a black screen, and the pc is still going, fans running, I'm wondering if it doesn't like my vid card. I will update any results from that tonight.

you can format in windows goto control panel>system security>administrative tools>Compurter management>storage>disk management. You can also reset the cmos then startup the comp, start bangin' that DEL key before you press power, and try that. Just remember when you get in to try n set the settings to give you a few more sec's to access the bios for next time.
