My computer has random lag spikes in every game and it's starting to get annoying. I have been using a wireless adapter card but recently switched to a 50 foot ethernet cable which did nothing. Whats wrong with my computer?

CPU - Intel i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz
RAM - 12 GB
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti
MB - ASROCK z77 Pro3
