I got this camera a couple years ago, but am now running into the issue. I put my SD card in and it says that it is a .MOD file and I can watch it with Windows Media Player, though whenever I try to edit or convert it, I get an errors and it won't work.

I have used a video camera that stored files on an internal HDD in the .MOD format. The software that came bundled with the camera included software to convert the .MOD files into a format for editing. That software was PowerDirector from CyberLink (http://www.cyberlink.com/products/powerdirector-ultra/s...). It did a good job of converting the files.
Another option is to change the file extension from mod to mpg or .avi. I tried that and sometimes it worked but not always. If you want to try this I suggest you try it with one file and see if the file plays back as it should.
