Which RAM for new PC build?

I'm building a PC for the first time and I'm not sure which ram to get. I'm building a higher end build with a 3770k CPU light overclocking might be done. But I'm uneducated about memory and I have some basic questions. If I'm getting 16GB is 4 channel the best option? (4x4GB sticks) and what MHz do I need? And what is the difference between dram and VRAM or other types of memory?

Well, if you are using a 3770k Cpu that means you'll bet getting a Z77 motherboard(or you should). So, since the z77 chipset is a dual channel system you'd be better off getting 2 x 8gb's sticks because if you ever wanted to you can then upgrade to 4 x 8gb's. If you get the 4 x 4gb set, you will have to completely replace the Ram to upgrade. However, if you are stuck on the 4 x 4gb set, it will run in Dual Channel so you won't see a performance decrease.

For general use I would get 1866mhz simply because it's generally not much more expensive than 1600mhz. So this is what I'd get RIGHT NOW(tomorrow it will probably change). http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f31866c10d16gab

I'm using it mostly for gaming, and I won't notice much difference between the dual channel and 4 channel?
