Ok guys I am looking into building my first gaming pc, and as a noob I am looking for suggestions on my build. My overall budget will be $1400.00 US. I currently have a brand new HP Compaq Elite 8300 CMT. This pc has a i7-3770 processor with 1 (500gb) 7200 rpm hard drive, and a cd/dvd burner. Additionally, I also have a (120gb) HyperX Kingston SSD which I intend to use as a boot drive. At this time there is not a video card installed.
My initial thoughts were to cannibalize this machine and take the drives and CPU to begin a new build. I am looking for suggestions add/deletes.
Can you guys help me put together the best setup possible while coming in at budget without the inclusion of any software, mouse or keyboard, as that will be covered? Thanks a million in advance!!!

Solution
The memory you picked is incorrect for the motherboard you have because a Z77 1155 motherboard is dual channel memory not triple. So by using 3 sticks of ram you will throw your memory out of dual channel mode. Really all you would need is 8gig of ram in a dual channel kit say 2x4gig. But if you feel you need more memory then go for a 4x4gig or a 2x8gig kit.

As said above Cooler Master PSU are complete trash do not trust your system to that because if the PSU goes it can take the whole system with it.
