I was trying to resolve some windows 8 blue screens with my system, and decided to update everything I thought might warrant an update, including the bios on my MB. I used the first AMD util at http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/utility.aspx, thinking that was their preferred way to go about it. I saved a copy of my bios using this util onto disk, not thinking that it wouldn't be much good if I couldnt access said disk.

In any case, after the refresh, I restarted, and it seems I've hosed myself. Everything seems to work fine, until Windows starts to load, at which point it just resets. I think it might flash some error screen first, but I'm not even sure if thats true (definitely nothing I can read, if there is such a screen).

Any advice on how to resolve this?

Thanks!

Thanks for the advice - I've tried safe mode, last known good, regular, and command prompt, all with the same results (immediate reset). Latest mobo drivers, challenging to update without being able to load Windows, but since the issue seems to stem from a BIOS update, I suspect that is the culprit for the current problem, though my original bluescreen issue may indeed be driver related.

I don't sadly - I have an XP disk, from which I upgraded. Even if I did, given that this change was a bios update, I suspect booting from disk wouldn't even likely work. My only thought is to somehow get a bios update onto dvd, and see if it can be re-loaded from disk. This is sadly a bit out of my area of expertise. Currently working off my laptop, which has similar specs - maybe it's just time to retire the 5-yr old desktop system.
