hello all. i've always scraped by with hardware info and suggestions by digging through this site for years now. after building about 20 systems over the years i decided i finally want to overclock my new build. i'm an average user. i use my desk computer to play games from time to time. recently i've gotten into metro and my gtx 460 didn't enjoy it too well so i decided time to ugprade. i used my old processor and ram from my shuttle (sn78sh7) and added it to this build. in case it doesn't show in my "about me" or whatever it's called on this site here's my setup:

Asus M4N72-E MB
Phenom II 1090T BE CPU
Zalman NPS5X Performa Cooler
8GB (4x2gb sticks) G.Skill 1066 F2-8500CL5D-4GBPI-B Ram
Asus GTX 660 Video Card
Samsung HD502HI Hard Drive
Atomic Juice 700w Power Supply
Various Zalman Case Fans (Front 120mm + Rear 2X 92mm)
All stuffed in a Mac G5 Case

i have NEVER overclocked (i'm a mechanic. i stick to engines). i used my 460 to play morrowind fully textured and thats about it. the phenom loaded areas without lag and everything was perfect. i bought the hardware years ago and it's done its job. now i'm curious as to what extra i can get our of overclocking. playing games like skyrim and metro i'm wanting to squeeze a little more out of my cpu. i've read all the guides time and time again about overlocking and i understand the cpu overclocking fine. i changed the multiplier to 18 it worked just fine (that's as far as i feel safe touching anything myself and i've put it back to default as it makes me nervous not having someones assurance). when it gets into matching settings with NB and HTT and it kind of scares me. and then i'm messing with voltage and i'm unsure if there's any type of ratios when it comes to bringing settings together between cpu ram and nb.

what i'm looking for is settings that a professional can give me to just put it and go with it. i understand that every chip is made different and they each have their limit. however i'm not looking to go all to hell and back with it. i'm looking for something modest. just a little extra. i noticed a lot of people pick 3.6 ( seeing someone overclock to 4.0 and beyond scares me seeing it rated as a 3.2 oem cpu). 3.8 sounds good for me. or if lower is better 3.6. truthfully i would feel more comfortable leaving voltages stock. but if you guys tell me to do it i will. i would like to use my ram at the 1066 speed it's rated to go to. i would like NB to compliment both and my video card to not be bottlenecked by any other hardware (i'll be adding another 660 in the future but don't need those settings yet). i know i'm asking someone to spoon feed me but it's not because i'm too lazy. i've read and read and read. now i'd like to apply but with someone holding my hand. hopefully one of you pros has already had a similar setup and knows asus MB settings and could help me with some basic voltages and speeds to make everything work together smoothly.

thanks in advance.

ok so i decided to test the waters and have had several resets and problems arise. the only thing i have done now is set the multiplier to 18x and left everything else on auto or default including voltage. when i try to set dram frequency to 1066 in manual option it boots fine for about 5 minutes them bsods with irq message. hwinfo64 shows ram at correct timings and 2.1 voltage but i'm assuming it's incorrect as i get bsod. trying to manually set timings and voltage gives me bsod also. obviously i'm still not understanding the guides. hwinfo64 shows all 4 cores at 3600 with CnQ on and they drop to 800 like they should. i'm happy with this. my nb is at 2000, ht max is at 3200, and ht status is at 2000. i would really like to get my ram to run at 1066 and would still like to get my cpu to 3.8 along with ht and nb to compliment the other two. again any help is appreciated.

ok so i realize that nobody has bothered to answer as similar questions have been posted so many times. although i expected this in the first place. thanks community. lol. anyway so for the record and maybe to help anyone else, i set my multiplier to 18.5x because i will wanted to use cool and quiet. i like the fact my processor can scale back during dead times. i had to set voltage to 1.375 and it worked great. so i decided to move on to NB. have it at 2600 and left ht link at 2000 like most people i've noticed on this forum. set the voltage to 1.2 to keep it stable and at the same time had to up cpu voltage to 1.4 and ram voltage to 1.9 (ddr2). everything runs stable on ibt with 20 runs on maximum. prime fails at about 22 hours no matter how much more voltage i apply. although it's been running for 2 days now constantly playing bf3 and skyrim. so it's stable by my standards. don't worry community i won't be folding at home submitting bad numbers. i tried upping my ram to 1066 with cl7 timings at 2.1v but no go. i'm satisfied with the speed i'm at now.

SO final questions that i HAVEN'T seen discussed is hybrid sli support. i decided to buy another 660 this week. got it in nvidia control panel found it and i enable sli performance setting (sli bridge is bidirectional). works great. now i found a setting in BIOS for hybrid sli support. i'm aware it lets me use my nforce 750a chipset as physx processor. will this help any? default with this bios option enabled is my 2nd card still kept as physx processor and 750a as nothing. i switched it to 750a and noticed no difference. would you guys use the 750a as physx processor? does using the second card as processor take any performance away as apposed to using it as regular second card? should i disable hybrid sli altogether as i have "true" sli with two cards?

last questions how the **** do i wake from sleep with my logitech wireless keyboard and mouse? as i've gone through all the settings in bios and OS, i'm guessing it's a jumper somewhere on the motherboard?
