Hey.

I use 2x Geforce 460 in SLI, been doing soo for 2 years without issues.

A couple of days ago I needed the BIOS battery for antoher computer, and ofc. the BIOS was reset when i put it back in.

After that it doesnt want to recognize my second card anymore. I cant even see it in the Device Manager/Nvidia SLI settings, which i used too.

Thing is. it has worked flawlessly for 2 years, then after the BIOS reset it's nowhere to be found.

Anyone got an idea to a cause?

I tried taking out 1 of the cards and ran the second one alone (the one that it could not find) and it didnt want to boot the computer, lots of weird sounds just arrived when i turned the computer on, does that mean it's dead?

I can understand it could have died, but its just too suspicius that it all of the sudden dies out after a BIOS reset? I mean i've had no probs for 2 years.

IF by any chance it has died. Should i buy another GF 460 and run SLI again, or would it be better i bought a better card and keep away from SLI? (one of the newer graphics cards?) would it be worth it compared to 2x 460 SLI?

Thanks on advance

what motherboard do you have? have you checked your bios settings? when you say you ran the second one alone did you move it into the other pci-e slot or left it in it place? Those sound could be error codes too.

I'll check which mother board it is when i get home. As of BIOS i dont know what i should be looking for (the cause if so). The card i checked in the same slot as the main card (working one) and it came with lots of beeps.. i'll also get those and post them aswell.

Sorry for the late reply, havent had time. First, how do i find out which motherboard i have?. I checked the board itself but couldnt see anything particular to what brand it is. can i maybe see it with cpuz? that sandra program maybe?

I checked both PCIe slots with the working card, and it works perfectly. only the other one that doesnt seem to work. The beep code i get from the other card is: 5 'fast' beeps.

Maybe it just magically died the between the time i removed the BIOS battery and put it back in? :)
