GPU in second PCI slot on Asus Gryphon Z87

Hi,

I will be upgrading to a 4770K system from my old X6 and will be getting Asus Gyrphon Z87 mobo. Thing is, I will be using be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2 for cooling which might block the first PCI3.0 slot.

Will I run into any issues when using my 660Ti in the second slot? Mobo manual Page 37 says "single VGA recommended" for the first slot and "N/A" for the second for single GPU setup. Does that mean that mobo will not recognize the GPU in second slot if the first one is empty?

Or will it run without any issues? There is a pic of GPU in second slot only on Gryphon on overclock.net:

It should be fine, but will only get 8 lanes instead of the 16 you would get in slot 1. But is no big deal as is plenty to run your 660 Ti without problem.

the motherboard use mentioned 'Asus Gryphon Z87' is really good one.... Nvidia sli supports,amd crossfire supports...................... yes you can use a 660ti on the pci3.0 slot.....
